TCML-Woodford Join School Christmas Fair,

Sharing Festive Joy with Thousands

School Christmas Fair

As the year draws to a close, the Christmas spirit has quietly begun to spread across London, and festive markets of all sizes are springing to life. On November 15, Parmiter’s School — a well-known institution in the UK — held its annual Christmas Gift Fair, attracting nearly 2,000 enthusiastic participants, including students, parents, local businesses, and community members. This year, Tzu Chi Academy London and Taiwan Centre for Mandarin Learning (TCML–Woodford), were invited to join the celebration, sharing the joy of the season through displays of education and culture.

On the day of the event, Tzu Chi UK Office Director Wilson Chu, Administrative Secretary Peng Yizhen, Tzu Chi Academy London Principal and TCML Director Vanessa Lu, Vice Principal Mrs Bella Moss, along with teachers and volunteers, were all present. The school set up a dedicated booth to promote Chinese education and culture, introducing parents and students to the academy’s teaching philosophy, curriculum highlights, and blended online–offline learning model. Many families stopped by to ask questions and learn more.

The booth also featured gift items generously donated by parents, as well as cultural products from Taiwan, including creative crafts, educational materials, and symbolic items reflecting Taiwanese culture. The diverse selection and strong cultural atmosphere attracted numerous visitors. Children were especially fascinated by Chinese calligraphy, small gifts, and cultural displays. The lively interactions created a warm and festive atmosphere that blended holiday cheer with meaningful cultural exchange.

Parmiter’s School Christmas Gift Fair is one of Northwest London’s most notable annual holiday events, drawing thousands of attendees each year. The indoor fair offered a wide range of stalls, including handmade crafts, family games, festive treats, Christmas decorations, and the highly anticipated grand raffle. This year’s raffle prizes were especially impressive, featuring a family ticket to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour, a dining voucher for two at The Grove’s Glasshouse restaurant, substantial cash prizes, and various gift vouchers from well-known restaurants and entertainment venues. All proceeds will go toward enhancing school resources and improving the student learning environment.

Tzu Chi Academy London’s participation this year not only deepened its connection with the North London community but also showcased Tzu Chi’s commitment to promoting humanistic education and cultural exchange. By presenting traditional Chinese education and Taiwanese culture at a community event, the academy hopes to help more families appreciate the value of multiculturalism and contribute to building a friendlier and more connected local community.

Looking ahead, Tzu Chi Academy London will continue to engage with local schools and communities, using education, humanities, and culture as bridges to foster greater understanding, compassion, and positive impact within UK society.
